Gospel Jazz is, in many ways, a new music that is just now coming into its own. Although it has been around for at least forty years, the genre is not well known. Unlimited in its creativity, it unashamedly borrows from every musical genre and makes them its own. Yet, it knows how to start from scratch and create something totally new. From the standpoint of music theory, it expands and expounds on the blues.

It is said that God is in the process of making all things new. Surely, this is true of Gospel Jazz. A marriage of jazz music and gospel message, gospel jazz has been described as a taste of "music heaven."  In the spirit of David, whose music calmed the anxious Saul, it is known to "ease the mind, soothe the soul, and energize the spirit."
